Intuitive thinking: Perspectives on intuitive thinking processes in mathematical problem solving through a literature review

چکیده

The ability to solve mathematical problems has been an interesting research topic for several decades. Intuition is considered a part of higher-level thinking that can help improve problem-solving abilities. Although many studies have conducted on problem-solving, intuition as bridge in still limited. This aims provide comprehensive overview intuitive mathematics learning at the elementary, middle, high school, and college levels through following questions: What role solving problems? process steps are taken thinking? implications learning? Additionally, this reviews literature related problem-solving. protocol used SLR PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyzes). results show topics such number, geometry, algebra, functions, calculus. produced by 1students having confidence, 2justification not always being same response, 3students rejecting answers. insights input educators, researchers, education policymakers developing better education. Future further explore develop effective models abilities thinking.

Assessing Rational and Intuitive Thinking Styles

Theories of dual cognition assume two distinguishable information processing styles: rational and intuitive. We discuss how the concepts of rationality and intuition are used in these theories, and the relations of these two thinking styles to personality characteristics. With the Rational-Experiential Inventory (REI; Pacini & Epstein, 1999), a questionnaire that assesses personal preferences f...

Intuitive vs. Analytical Thinking: Four Theoretical Frameworks

Research in mathematics education often consists of interpreting students’ performance on mathematical tasks, in particular their misconceptions, or nonnormative responses. In such situations it is natural to compare students’ intuitive vs. analytical ways of thinking, bearing in mind that these terms need to be specified more precisely. In this paper, data on one such task is used to compare f...

Dual Processes in Mental State Understanding: Is Theorising Synonymous with Intuitive Thinking and is Simulation Synonymous with Reflective Thinking?

In this paper we develop an idea first mooted by Wilkinson, Ball, and Cooper (2010), which is that the dichotomy between theorybased and simulation-based reasoning in the context of mental state understanding is synonymous with the distinction between intuitive and reflective thinking in dual-process accounts of human reasoning (e.g., Evans, 2010). To support this proposal we draw upon a range ...

Thinking and Problem Solving

Human thinking, and in particular, the human ability to solve complex, real-life problems contributes more than any other human ability to the development of human culture and the growth and development of human life on earth. However, the human ability to solve complex problems is still not well understood, partly because it has for a long time been largely ignored by traditional problem-solvi...

Intuitive and logical way of thinking in the education of architectural design courses

Different approaches and methods are used in the architecture design process that logical and intuitional methods are the most common ones. The role of knowledge in each method is different.  Investigating aspects of knowledge demonstrated the hierarchy from data to wisdom and the interaction of explicit and tacit types, subjective and objective sources, and analytical and exploratory ways of p...
